citizens programme focuses on building capacity of Civil Society
Organizations (CSOs) to advocate for sustainable Water Sanitation
and Hygiene (WASH) services and improved Water Resource Management
(WRM). The programme is a five – years (2016 – 2020) Strategic
Partnership (SP) between the Dutch government Ministry of Foreign
Affairs (MoFA) and Dutch International NGOs comprised of IRC,
Simavi, Wetlands International and Akvo.
The Watershed
programme is running in
Kenya among other 5 countries
by strengthening the capacity of national civil society to lobby government and other WASH duty bearers.
The
Watershed
programme is mainly
software driven, focusing on Lobby and Advocacy (L&A) activities
geared towards influencing government and other duty bearers for
positive governance changes in
the water sector (WASH services and WRM) that results to sustainable
WASH services for all. The desired goal of improved water sector
governance is driven by strengthening Kenyan
civil societies capacity to undertake evidence-based lobbying and advocacy.
This will lead to measurable improvements in the quality and sustainability of WASH services in Kenya.
