Mango Mealybug Interactive Radio Campaign

TRAC FM, in partnership with CABI, successfully launched an interactive radio campaign to combat the mango mealybug, an invasive pest threatening Uganda’s fruit crops. Through engaging radio discussions, SMS polls, and expert insights, farmers across the country gained practical pest management strategies, helping safeguard their harvests and livelihoods.

Serious Citizens Part 1: Women’s Economic Empowerment

The Serious Citizens Interactive Radio Campaign (Part 1) focused on Women’s Economic Empowerment in Uganda. Conducted by Trac FM and its partners from April to June 2022, the campaign used interactive radio talk shows and SMS polls to engage over 46,000 citizens across 134 districts. The campaign uncovered cultural and societal barriers limiting women’s economic participation and informed advocacy efforts through real-time, citizen-generated data.

Serious Citizens Part 3: Teenage Pregnancy in Uganda

The Serious Citizens Interactive Radio Campaign – Part 3: Teenage Pregnancy in Uganda was conducted by Trac FM from October 2022 to February 2023. Through radio talk shows and SMS polls across nine stations, the campaign gathered 44,200 responses on the causes, consequences, and solutions to teenage pregnancy. The findings revealed a disconnect between government policies and public perception, highlighting unsafe sex—not child marriage—as the leading cause. The campaign sparked national debate and informed data-driven advocacy aimed at improving reproductive health education and support for teen mothers.
